tommaguire2Tom Maguire is President of Maguire Financial Group and services ultra high net wealth individuals as well as both public and private companies throughout the United States. He attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1974. Mr. Maguire spent most of the first twenty-nine years of his career in public accounting, including 20 years as a tax partner in the Phoenix office of Big Four accounting firm KPMG. His role at KPMG involved running the Personal Financial Planning practice for the firm in Arizona. He worked with ultra high net worth individuals including several of the Forbes 400. Mr. Maguire provided sophisticated income tax and estate planning services in conjunction with the client’s team of advisors. He also worked extensively advising clients in the areas of business succession planning and tax planning for the entities that these clients controlled. Today, Mr. Maguire continues to provide similar services to clients, in addition to integrating life insurance into their overall financial planning.

Credentials

In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Mr. Maguire is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and holds a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of CPAs. He is also an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP), a designation granted by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils. KPMG capitalized on his experience by making him the Professional Practice Partner – Tax for Phoenix, San Diego and Orange County. He was also a member, along with approximately eight other partners, in the Personal Financial Planning Core Strategies Group, a “think tank” group that met regularly in Washington, DC. The purpose of the group was to identify tax planning opportunities for the core tax practice. Mr. Maguire is a member of the Professional Advisory Board for the Arizona Community Foundation and the Professional Advisory Board of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He is a former member of the Board of Directors and past President of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council; a former member of the Arizona Board of Directors for Childhelp USA and the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
